Greg Potter
Contemporary Paintings
Sherman Oaks California

Greg Potter has more than 25 years' visual arts experience. His work as a location scout for TV commercials (including Coke, Sprint, and Nike) and Magazines (Vanity Fair) proved to be a major backdrop for Greg's creative expression. In 2003, Potter received his M.S. (with distinction) from California State University, Northridge. As a speech therapist, he produces visual therapy materials for hospital patients with communication disorders. His commissions include mural projects (solo and group) in Chicago and Los Angeles. He has also completed illustrations for an NBC special on the Battle of the Bighorn (1980) and the Directors Guild of America.

Potter's work graces individual collections nationally including that of internationally acclaimed actress, Shelley Morrison (Will and Grace, The Flying Nun) and director, Walter Dominguez. Several original acrylic paintings from the "Mimicry" were exhibited at Gallery 33 East, Long Beach, CA, from October 14 through December 31, 2006. Patrons' enthusiastic reviews of Potter's work prompted Gallery owner Michael Sterns to invite Potter, along with several other accomplished Southern California artists, to return for Gallery 33's "Valentine Month's Exhibit." Three of Greg's new acrylic paintings will be on view beginning at the opening reception Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. The group show runs through February 27.

In his work, Potter is drawn to the interplay of organic and inorganic objects sharing similar physical attributes (The Mimicry series) and to the examination of subjects isolated from their normal context, but free to interact with their immediate environment (Doors to the World). He is currently at work on a new series of acrylic paintings, Freedom: The Journey From Wanting to Having.

Potter lives in Sherman Oaks, California, with his wife, and crafts maven extraordinaire, Susan.
